Between the breathless rush of harvest
and the calm of Cellar Season
, we welcome the festive energy of the holidays—and with them a chance to step back, appreciate the beauty and camaraderie around us, and give back to the communities we call home.
This year, The Giving Season is our gift to you. After a year full of hard choices and unexpected obstacles, we found ways to come together (even when physically miles or even time zones apart) to keep our community strong. Every step of the way, you were part of that community, and now is our chance to express our gratitude.
The Giving Season combines Wine Country Thanksgiving, Willamette Cares Food Share, and the holidays. Our wineries and wine country businesses have each selected a special gift for you, to show our appreciation for Willamette Valley wine lovers everywhere.
Please note that Oregon Governor Kate Brown has introduced new, statewide COVID-19 restrictions prohibiting on-premise consumption in tasting rooms, restaurants and bars between November 18 and December 3. This means our wineries will not be hosting in-person Thanksgiving events.
On November 25, Governor Kate Brown announced updated restrictions based on a new framework ranking counties from lower to extreme risk. Beginning December 3, in all Willamette Valley counties, outdoor on-site consumption will be allowed at a reduced capacity (maximum 50 people total, 6 in a group, and up to 2 households represented).
Learn more here.
The following wineries have provided the hours they will be open Thanksgiving Weekend (November 27–29) for to-go purchases and order pickup only. Please contact each winery for their specific details, and note that some wineries are offering curbside pickup by prior arrangement only.
SUPPORTING OREGON FOOD BANKS
In the tradition of Willamette Cares Food Share, our Giving Season celebration will include support for Oregon Food Banks. Together our participating wineries and wine country businesses donated $7,000 to the Oregon Food Bank Network, and many are continuing to make and accept donations. See all participants here.
Want to help? You can donate to the Oregon Food Banks directly by county. Mention “Willamette Cares” when you donate:

Why is Food Share so important to our community? A few of our wineries shared their reasons for supporting the Oregon Food Bank Network.

Stretch your legs and take in the fresh air at Knudsen Vineyards. During the statewide pause, join 2nd Generation Owner and Founding Partner, Page Knudsen Cowles, for a vigorous hike through the vineyard.
Suitable for couples and associated groups of up to five, this is a renewing exercise for anyone looking for relaxation and restoration in a peaceful Dundee Hills setting.
Because we are restricted and unable to pour wines for on-site consumption during the pause, we are happy to waive the hike fee ($17.50 per person) for two guests with a purchase of one or more bottles of wine to be enjoyed off-premise.
Come rain or shine and Page will be happy to greet you!
Take a virtual trip to The Outlook at Knudsen Vineyards for a fun social activity. This highly gift-able virtual tasting event is a great way for you, your friends and family to connect and enjoy toasting from a distance.
We look forward to seeing you virtually soon!

We've had requests to share the Rustic Apple Tart recipe 🍎from the recent culinary adventure with cookinclasspdx. Try this at home! It is delicious with our Chardonnay, Tempranillo...⠀
Rustic Apple Tart⠀
1 sheet frozen puff pastry thawed⠀
All-purpose flour, for surface⠀
1 large egg, lightly beaten, for egg wash⠀
¼ cup applesauce⠀
½ tsp ground cinnamon⠀
1 tsp brown sugar⠀
1 lemon wedge⠀
1 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and cut into thin wedges⠀
1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted⠀
1 tsp sanding sugar, for sprinkling⠀
2 tbsp apricot preserves⠀
1 tbsp water⠀
Optional Garnish:Confectioners sugar⠀
Optional Garnish:Whipped cream⠀
● Roll puff pastry into a 14-by-16-inch rectangle on a lightly floured surface⠀
● Cut a 1-inch-wide strip from each side of the dough. Brush edges with egg wash, and top⠀
with cut strips to form a crust.⠀
● Prick middle of dough all over with a fork, and transfer to a parchment-lined baking⠀
sheet. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.⠀
● Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.⠀
● Mix apples with brown sugar and lemon juice⠀
● Mix cinnamon with applesauce and spread onto the middle of dough using a spatula.⠀
● Arrange apple wedges over applesauce in 3 tightly overlapping rows.⠀
● Brush apples with melted butter⠀
● Brush crust with egg wash, and sprinkle entire surface with sanding sugar. (Unbaked tart⠀
can be frozen for up to 3 days.)⠀
● Bake until edges start to puff, about 20 minutes. Reduce heat to 375 degrees, and bake,⠀
rotating halfway through, until pastry is dark golden brown and apples have caramelized,⠀
25 to 30 minutes more.⠀
● Transfer sheet to a wire rack, and let cool for 10 minutes.⠀
● Warm apricot preserves and water in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Brush⠀
apples with warm apricot preserves.⠀
● Dust with confectioners' sugar if desired, and cut into squares using a pizza wheel or a knife. Top with whipped cream. Enjoy!⠀
