In support of its mission to promote, enhance and protect the prestige of the Willamette Valley Appellation and our wines, the Willamette Valley Wineries Association (WVWA) monitors and engages in the development of Federal and State public policy to inform its members, to participate in industry collaboration, and to advocate on behalf of the Willamette Valley wine industry.

WILLAMETTE VALLEY PROTECTED GEOGRAPHIC INDICATION

The Willamette Valley wine region has been formally recognized by the European Union through Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Status approval. The culmination of almost a decade's work, this milestone recognizes the quality of Willamette Valley wine and protects the Willamette Valley name from misuse and fraudulent labeling in the EU and in many markets around the world. Among US wine regions only Napa Valley and now the Willamette Valley bear this distinction.

WILLAMETTE VALLEY DESIGNATION ON NESTED AVA WINE LABELS

The WVWA facilitated the implementation of laws and regulations for the “Willamette Valley” designation on wine labels of its nested AVA designated wines.
