Join us for Wine Webinar Wednesday! We miss being able to share our favorite subject (wine stuff) with our favorite people (you) while we shelter in place and do our part to keep our community safe. For the next several weeks we will be featuring a variety of wine topics ranging from where and how wine grapes grow to the world’s most celebrated wines and regions. So, grab a glass of wine, and join us as we explore the world of wine via the world wide web. Capacity is limited, register early to secure your spot.

About this Webinar:
It has often been said that great wines are made in the vineyard. Winegrowers and winemakers wax lyrically about the terroir of their vineyards, but what exactly does “terroir” mean and why do wine enthusiasts care? The French term “terroir” doesn’t have a literal translation and the common interpretation is “sense of place” but it’s often reduced to mean “the soil” for simplicity, but it is so much more than that. In this session we will discuss the environmental influences that make up the concept of terroir and how they influence the personality of the grape and the wines you enjoy.

Presented by: Sam Schmitt, CS, WSET3, CWE
Sam is Lingua Franca’s Director of Operations. He came to the Oregon wine industry in 2016 after a long career in management consulting and corporate training. An avid wine enthusiast, Sam is a CMS Certified Sommelier, a SWE Certified Wine Educator, earned his WSET Level 3 Certification in Wine and is currently pursuing the WSET Level 4 Diploma. He has presented at dozens of conferences and seminars across the country and is well known for his ability to present complex subjects in an entertaining and easy to understand way.
