Physicist, farmer and winemaker, Don Hagge personally crafts VIDON wines from the Chehalem Mountains estate vineyard he has built with his wife, Vicki (hence the name Vi-Don). VIDON produces premium single-clone Pinot Noir cuvees from three Dijon clones planted in the hillside vineyard, along with an estate blend. In addition to Pinot Noir, small blocks of Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Syrah yielded in 2014 for the first time. Next vintage will also yeild Tempranillo. The winery and vineyard is certified LIVE and VIDON practices sustainable farming and minimal intervention in the winemaking process including indigenous fermentations.
The tasting room is in the winery and provides an intimate setting to experience VIDON wines while the patio on the crush deck offers a relaxing spot to get to know the winemakers and enjoy the dramatic views of the Willamette Valley and Mount Jefferson. The current tasting flight provides a compare-and-contrast that showcases the unique characteristics of the individual clones and underscores the differences between recent vintages at the estate.
VIDON welcomes wine lovers on weekends between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and by appointment any other day since the tasting room is an integral part of a working winery. We pride ourselves on getting to know each visitor personally. No buses or limousines please.
