Bounty of Yamhill County

Bounty of Yamhill County is a culinary celebration of our vibrant community of famous wineries, celebrated chefs, and sustainable family farms. BOYC offers a line-up of special events around Yamhill County over an extended weekend:

  • Saturday activities include hot air ballooning, yoga or a vineyard hike. In the evening, Penner-Ash Wine Cellars and Winderlea Winery & Vineyard host four-course dinners.
  • Sunday offers more adventures for the body and palate with horseback riding, paddling or a food & wine pairing experience at R. Stuart & Co.
  • Sunday evening, the festival draws to a close with BIG NIGHT, an al fresco dining feast at Sokol Blosser Winery, featuring 20 chef, farmer and vintner pairings.

Wine, sunshine & good tunes — what could go wrong?!

Pretty Gritty will be playing at our Tunes on the Patio for August — come hang out with us on the patio & listen to Pretty Gritty!

“Proving that Pretty is as Gritty does, Blaine Heinonen and Sarah Wolff, the soulful, Americana duo known as Pretty Gritty, are about to make their first foray with the launch of their EP ‘Lonely Road’. Recorded in Nashville, and produced by the powerhouse production team of Fred Cannon and Paul Buono for the Creative and Dreams Music Network label, ‘Lonely Road’ showcases the duo’s unique and delicate harmonies to perfection – but don’t be fooled, Cannon/Buono have made sure that each track also packs a Pretty Gritty punch!”

Guillén Family Wine Tasting

We are pleased to welcome winemaker Jesus Guillen to share his delicious and highly rated Pinot Noir at Winter’s Hill this Saturday & Sunday. You will get to sample both Winter’s Hill and Guillén Family wines under one roof.

Guillen Family logo

Starting with the 2006 vintage, Jesus has rapidly developed a reputation as one of Oregon’s most promising winemakers. The glowing reviews speak to the quality of his wines, and with his enthusiasm for sharing his wines and his winemaking philosophy, it is no wonder that many of his wines have sold out before being bottled. For his fans, the biggest problem has been trying to get their hands on more of his wines. We are happy to help make that a little easier.

Starting in February, Guillen Family Wines will be pouring tastes and sharing their wines once a month at Winter’s Hill, and this fall, Jesus will begin making his wines at Winter’s Hill, sharing the space and collaborating occasionally with Winter’s Hill winemaker Russell Gladhart. Stay tuned for details about upcoming tastings and events.

Bells Up Winery (www.bellsupwinery.com) will be open to the public for Labor Day weekend, Saturday and Sunday (September 3–4). The winery’s estate tasting room will be open from noon to 4:00 p.m. each day.

Located in the Chehalem Mountains AVA, Bells Up Winery is housed in a recently renovated pole barn at 27895 NE Bell Road at the intersection of Zimri Drive. Tastings are $15 per person, deducted from a $75 purchase. Members of Bells Up’s Fanfare Club enjoy complimentary tastings throughout the event.

Guests will enjoy tastings of five of Bells Up Winery’s handcrafted wines, paired with light fare and spectacular views from the tasting room. During the open house, owner and winemaker David Specter will pour:

2014 Rhapsody Pinot Blanc
2015 Prelude Rosé of Pinot Noir
2013 & 2014 Titan Pinot Noirs
2014 Firebird Syrah

The label is one of Newberg’s newest micro-boutique wineries—making approximately 400 cases annually—and is always open by appointment. Bells Up composes handcrafted, classically-styled Oregon Pinot Noir with grapes sourced primarily from micro-growers located on the northern side of the Willamette Valley. It also offers a small selection of other Oregon-grown and produced varietals.

The name “Bells Up” is a reference to a dramatic moment in classical music where the composer instructs French horn players to lift the bells of their instruments upward and project their sound with maximum intensity. Specter, a French horn player who performed in bands and symphonic groups throughout high school and college, says the winery is his “Bells Up” moment.
